Ease2pay: activate and bill electricity in the public space
Ease2pay‘s IoT activation and transaction platform offers everything suppliers of power services in the public space need. Ease2pay’s products can be found on campsites and parking places, in marinas and sea ports, at events – anywhere temporary power systems are needed. The company is making great strides, together with its technology partner Technolution.
Services for electricity on the go
Ease2pay provides its services under a variety of brands, including Walstroom for inland shipping, AanUit.net for marinas, Marktstroom for markets and events, and AppWash by Miele for washing machines and dryers in apartment blocks. The principle underlying all these services is the same. Ease2pay’s clients offer their own customers electricity on the go, which they activate, administer and bill using the Ease2pay cloud platform. The platform is accessible 24/7. Electricity consumers can activate services using mobile apps or through the internet. The suppliers can access measurement and consumption data and can offer flexible payment methods.
Long-term collaboration with Technolution
Technolution has been Ease2pay’s technology partner since Ease2pay was founded in 2015, and its main role is that of system architect. We were their mainstay even when Ease2pay existed only as a service by Eneco, and this continued after they became independent. All ICT activities for our platform are coordinated by Technolution. We are their sounding board, give advice, make sure new modules are built, and they perform the last check before release. It has become a streamlined process.
“It gives me energy to work for Ease2pay. If you’ve made something one week, the chances are you’re going to see it in use a few weeks later.”
Making new services possible together
The partnership means a lot to us. Marco Hoek, system architect and main developer of the platform, says: “It really gives me energy to work for Ease2pay, because you can see the application being used in practice very quickly. If you’ve made something one week, the chances are you’re going to see it in use a few weeks later. Also, it’s great to make new services possible together. We discuss a new development with them, and then my team and I put the various element together to make new things. That’s how the ICT platform grows. Really cool!”
Continued development and expansion
Over the years, the platform that Ease2pay offers has never stopped developing. It is hosted in AWS, Amazon’s cloud service, and can connect with practically every type of device through well-secured mobile connections. Marco Hoek: “There is a new release on average every few weeks. This means we have to work with short sprints and rapid deployments to the AWS environment. We can even do multiple production releases on the same day if we have to! We work with a mixed team of developers from Technolution and Ease2pay and carry out many integrations with other parties.”
Ease2pay is now an internationally operating service provider for various sectors. The platform works with multiple currencies and languages, variable VAT rates and calculation processes. Ease2Pay thinks there will be more expansions in the future. Electrification is continuing. Over the coming five to eight years, they are expecting increasing electrification of freight traffic. At the moment they are investing strongly in power services for refrigerated transport, which can cut back on the use of polluting diesel generators. They are already offering this service on fifty locations across Europe and are planning to expand that network.
